village field in glorious June
The Coffee Mornings are not running at present, here's an update from Di, I'm sure everyone will join with us for thanking Di for all her work in running the coffee mornings and for the brilliant amount of money raised.
You will be aware that we have been having a monthly coffee morning in the Church since February 2010. The idea of holding this was to provide a regular opportunity for all members of the Coffinswell and Daccombe community to meet each other. Although it was never set up as a fund raising activity we have been able to donate considerable sums of money to various charities chosen by villagers. We have also supported the Church by paying a small amount each month to contribute towards the energy we have used.
Unfortunately, attendance at the coffee mornings was declining for a few months so it may be felt that it was time to take a break
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to and attended the last coffee morning on 28th August. It was very well attended and great fun. A total of £150 was raised. £50 was donated to NSPCC, £20 was given to the Church to help them with their energy costs. The remaining £80 was given to the Church to support the Fabric Fund.
I thought it would be good to look at the total picture over the last 3 years since the coffee mornings began. We had 29 coffee mornings in all during which the following money was donated to the charities villagers had chosen:-
£100 to Childrens Hospice South West
£100 to Motor Neurone Disease Association
£100 to Multiple Sclerosis Society
£100 to NSPCC
£100 to Church Fabric Fund + £80 from last coffee morning
£50 to Coffinswell & Daccombe Events Committee
£50 to Devon Air Ambulance Trust
£50 to The Lodge Cancer Support Unit at Torbay Hospital
£50 to Animals in Distress
A total of £570 was also given to the Church over the period as 'rent' to help with energy costs. This means that a total of £1350 was raised since 2010. I am sure you will all agree that this was a considerable achievement.
Once again, my thanks to you all for your enthusiasm, contributions and friendship over the last 3 years.
